- North Beach (Italian section of town, great restaurants), Coit Tower is close by
- Ferry Building / Embarcadero (close to downtown)
- Alcatraz (great audio tour plus great views of the city)
- Alamo Square (Victorian Houses with city view in background, good photo opp.)
- Golden Gate Park (near Haight-Ashbury)
- Palace of Fine Arts (good view of the bridge, Marina area of town with shops & restaurants)
- Haight-Ashbury (Grateful Dead used to live at 710 Ashbury St.,)
- Castro
- Chinatown (just like being in China)
- Mission (mainly for Mexican food and good bars)
- Union Street (upscale, shopping and restaurants)
- Union Square (downtown, major shops)
- Fort Point (great view of the GG Bridge)
- Pacific Bell Park (South of Market, best baseball stadium, close to cool restaurants and bars)
- Baker Beach (beaches aren’t great because of the weather but you’ll get a good view of the bridge)
- Wine Country (Napa & Sonoma)
- Muir Woods (Redwoods)
- Mount Tamalpais (Hiking)
